Tess Anderson is a singer, songwriter, and music producer based out of Vancouver, BC. Born and raised in Victoria, BC, she has been songwriting and performing since the rookie age of 12. Trained as both a pianist and a vocalist, Tess brings her jazz background to the world of alternative-pop music. Strongly influenced by artists such as Sara Bareilles and Imogen Heap, her sound is heavily vocal-driven with creative use of influential lyrics and compelling chord progressions.
In her early teens, she began teaching herself to play the guitar, opening up the avenues for numerous performance opportunities at local events and venues, including many charity fundraisers for her community. Her first self-produced six-song EP was released at the age of 15 (under a different alias) followed closely by her first sold-out show. At 16 she was an area finalist in the CBC Searchlight competition, which earned Tess her first radio play. She graduated from Nimbus School of Recording and Media in 2018, where she built her skill set and perfected her style, studying audio engineering, music production, and artist development. Passionate about being a role model for young girls, Tess’s unique authentic character and raw performances inspire confidence, humanity, and self-acceptance.
With 42 live shows under her belt for 2019, as well as 2 new single releases, Tess continues to build a name for herself in the local scene. With a more recent focus on collaboration, her latest endeavors include working with a wide range of local and international songwriters and producers, while also spending time in the recording studio gearing up for an independent EP release. With over 10 years of songwriting and performance experience behind her now, her momentum and drive are only amplifying.
