Throw away all the expectations and just make music that feels good.
That’s the sentiment Vancouver-based Tess Anderson has chosen to live by recently, and it’s become evident in her upcoming body of work. Allowing vulnerability and authenticity to be at the forefront of everything she does, Tess captivates audiences with her moxie-filled performances. Trying on many different genre hats over the years, nothing has felt quite right - until now. Having spent the last year in the studio refining her sound, 2023 marks the start of a brand new era for Tess Anderson. Combining the familiar gloss of pop with the heavy grit of alternative rock, she is finally stepping into her power fronting an impressively versatile 5-piece band.
That’s now, but it’s been a long time in the making. Growing up in Victoria, BC, her debut in the music industry began at the early age of 12. Training as a vocalist and pianist, she began songwriting as a form of self-expression, never turning down the opportunity to perform. Relocating to Vancouver in 2016 to pursue her career, she received a diploma in songwriting, audio engineering, and music production. After becoming a finalist in the 2020 Canadian Songwriter Challenge and securing an Amplify BC Grant, Tess went on to release her debut chill-pop EP “Onward" in August 2021, garnering 25,000 streams in its first month.
Performing over 75 live shows annually, including opening for Mother Mother at a sold-out Commodore Ballroom show, and receiving national radio play on CBC - Tess continues to build a name for herself in the Vancouver music scene. Her highly anticipated first full-length album is set to hit all streaming platforms in May 2024.
